FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, July 26, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — In line with its strategic work plan, the National Planning Committee of the 50th Independence Anniversary Celebration is to undertake a nationwide consultative tour, to ensure all stakeholders are fully involved with the process and to solicit contributions as to how the year long celebration should look like.

The Committee has divided itself into four groups; Group 1 will visit Koinadugu, Bombali, Tonkolili and Kono Districts. Group 2 will visit Kambia, Port Loko, Moyamba and Mattru Jong. Group 3 will travel to Pujehun, Bo, Kenema and Kailahun whilst Group 4 will engage the Western urban and rural areas.

Town hall meetings and radio discussion programs will be organized in each of these towns to allow the public have a say in the planning and implementation of the activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration.

The National Planning Committee is therefore appealing to organizations, institutions and individuals to participate in these consultative meetings and come up with ideas as to how they would like to see our 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrated.

The team departs Freetown on Wednesday 28th July, 2010 at 06:00AM.
