Chief of United Nations operation in Cote d’Ivoire discusses peace process with UN military adviser

 

 

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, March 30, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Côte d’Ivoire, Y.J. Choi exchanged views on the Ivorian peace process on Friday with the Military Adviser of the Department of Peace Keeping at the UN, Gen. Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor.

 

The meeting with Gen. Obiakor falls within the framework of a 4-day working visit to Cote d’Ivoire to familiarize himself with the situation in the country.

 

“After my tour, I’ll meet again with the head of mission to discuss ways of improving our contribution to the assist Côte d’Ivoire regain peace and stability,” the General indicated at the close of his meeting.

 

General Obiakor will use his field tour to make a firsthand assessment of the working conditions of the peace-keeping forces deployed in Cote d’Ivoire.
