Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia

 

NEW YORK, January 30, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General met today with Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

 

The Secretary-General welcomed the President’s commitment to exert all efforts with Somalia’s Parliament to complete the process of forming a new government. The Secretary-General stressed the importance of internal political stability to allow for much-needed progress on Somalia’s Vision 2016. They also discussed the need to continue support to the joint Somalia National Army-AMISOM military campaign and the importance of an inclusive process in developing a federal state.
