Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on attack on hotel in Tripoli, Libya

NEW YORK, January 28, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General condemns, in the strongest terms, the attack that took place at the Corinthia Hotel, in Tripoli on 27 January. He expresses his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of this despicable act. Terrorism has no place in the new Libya and will not undermine the ongoing political dialogue which the United Nations is facilitating. In this regard, the Secretary-General commends the courage of the Libyan actors who are participating in the dialogue to find a peaceful and negotiated solution to the crisis.
