When: Wednesday, October 31st 2012, 09:00am– 13:00pm to be followed by a Press Conference

Who: Organized by the African Union Commission, NEPAD Agency, FAO, WHO and UNICEF.

Objectives: In commemorating the 3rd Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security, the ADFNS 2012, will provide a platform that engages food and nutrition security stakeholders, toward operationalising an African vision on food and nutrition security, taking into account global discussions, movements and Africa’s strategic frameworks. These frameworks include, the Strategy for the Accelerated Industrial Development of Africa (AIDA), adopted by the African Union Summit in 2008 and the African Agri-business and Agro-Industry Initiative (3ADI), launched by African Heads of State and Government in Abuja in March 2010. This year’s event will be commemorated under the theme “Ensuring access to safe and nutritious foods.”
