A body of Somali journalist found in Mogadishu. The fifth killed in a week
MOGADISHU, Somalia, September 28, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The National Union of Somali journalists (NUSOJ) is shocked by the frightening information over the beheaded body of a online sports journalist that was found at the former animal market on late Thursday afternoon., highlighting the dangers Somali journalist work raising the number of journalists killed to 14.
The body of late Abdirahman Mohamed Ali 26 who writes for the Somali sports news website cayaarahamaanta.com was found beheaded at Barwaaqo restaurant at the suuqa xoolaha neighborhood on Thursday afternoon 27 Sept 2012, journalists and witnesses interviewed by local radio stations reported.
Targeted assassinations, death threats and intimidations have become the norm in Mogadishu raising fears of insecurity questioning the future of Somali media practioners. Four journalists have been killed Thursday and Friday in a separate incidents making late Abdirahman Mohamed Ali the fifth killed in a week
‘we are shocked by this tragic incident we are incredibly witnessing and condemn the increased brutal killing against journalists” Mohamed Ibrahim, secretary general of the NUSOJ said “we send our condolence to family of late Abdirahman and call for urgent investigations
The motive of the killing is yet unclear and no group claimed the responsibility of the attack
