UNAMID funds Quick Impact Projects in North Darfur
On 30 October, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Hervé Ladsous, announced the start of three Quick Impact Projects (QIP) in Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur. The projects, which will support education, health and water in the locality, are to be implemented and completed within a three-month period.
UNAMID has also funded two youth training centers in El Fasher, North Darfur, through its QIP program. The projects which included the construction of workshop classrooms, offices and other facilities, were implemented by national NGOs, the Jebel Mara Charity Organization and the Third Star Organization.
UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military conducted 152 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 101 villages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. UNAMID Police advisors conducted 97 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
