Cooperation: In Angola, safer towns for young people

ROME, Italy, July 14, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Italian Development Cooperation is engaged in protecting young people in Angola. Our Ambassador in Luanda, Giuseppe Mistretta, has opened a project funded by the Italian Foreign Ministry and implemented by CIES, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which has been active since December 2010. The aim of the project is to protect and foster the social inclusion of 1300 young people in Luanda and Benguela provinces at risk of marginalisation and delinquency.

The main areas for action are: vocational training and help finding jobs, social integration, and awareness-raising in civil society and training for the institutions. Designed jointly by CIES and Kandengues Unidos, an Angolan NGO, the project involves Angola’s civil society and numerous institutions (INAC, the Labour Ministry, Luanda and Bengual’s provincial governments, and various municipalities).
