The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Receives the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Slovenia

 

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, June 21, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Jean Ping, received in his office at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa on Monday, 20 June 2011, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Ambassador Andrej Logar, who conveyed to him a message of friendship from his President.

 

Ambassador Logar, who is currently undertaking a series of visits to African countries, underlined the key role AU is playing in the continent and pointed out that the Republic of Slovenia pays great attention to the development of ties of cooperation with Africa. In this context, he informed the Chairperson that an Ambassador has been designated to be the first Permanent Representative of his country to the African Union. He also expressed the readiness of Slovenia to assist the continent in various areas of mutual interest.

 

The Chairperson thanked the Special Envoy for the keen interest of Slovenia to establish good ties of cooperation with the African Union and its Member States and indicated that the Commission is ready for a fruitful cooperation between both sides.

 

Dr. Ping exchanged views with Ambassador Logar on several issues including the recent developments in Libya and AUs efforts to find a political solution to the crisis in that country.
