Sudanese’s Permanent Representative to the AU bids Farewell to the Chairperson

 

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, June 21, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Jean Ping, today, 20 June 2011, received in his office at AUC Headquarters in Addis Ababa, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the African Union (AU), Ambassador Muhidin Salim Ahmed Ibrahim who had come to bid him farewell at the end of his tenure.

 

The Chairperson commended the Sudanese diplomat for the dedication with which he ably represented his country during the past four years.

 

The Chairperson also seized the opportunity to commend once again the Government of Sudan for successfully conducting the general elections of April 2010 and the South Sudan Referendum in January 2011 and for the positive developments of the Doha Talks aimed at resolving the conflict in Darfur.

 

The Chairperson reiterated the determination of the AU to continue assisting the Sudanese parties to reach an agreement on all post-referendum issues necessary for the establishment of two viable states in Sudan and to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace in Darfur.

 

On his part, Ambassador Muhidin thanked the Chairperson in particular, and the entire AUC leadership for the cooperation and support he enjoyed him during his tenure. He also assured the Chairperson of Sudan’s continued support for the AUC’s efforts to achieve peace and stability on the continent in general and in the Sudan in particular.

 

Dr Ping and his guest exchanged views on several issues of mutual interest including recent developments in Sudan. The Chairperson wished the outgoing Ambassador the best in his new Endeavour’s.
