Cote d’Ivoire / UNOCI has found no mass graves sites in N’dotre

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, March 17, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — On Saturday, 12 March, and Monday, 14 March, UNOCI sent two teams to the village of N’dotré to investigate the existence of a suspected mass grave. We observed the following:

During our two visits and investigation, we have seen no mass grave sites, nor any traces of them.

At the moment, the teams have not found any corpses at the half-constructed “morgue” building in N’dotré, where a number of bodies were said to have been kept. Given that this morgue is an unfinished construction with no facilities such as a cold chamber, bodies could have not been kept there for a long period of time.

Whether there was a mass grave or mass killing in N’dotré in December 2010 is a matter that requires continuing search for evidence.
