Third Africa-EU Summit / Joint Task Force Meeting to Kick Off Tomorrow at the AU Headquarters



ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, October 19, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Joint Task Force will meet from 20 to 21 October to discuss the cooperation between EU and AU in all eight partnerships. It will prepare work for the upcoming Africa-EU Summit on 29-30 November in Tripoli, Libya. Participants will discuss progress in each of the eight partnerships of the Joint Africa EU Strategy, and agree on an Action Plan for the period 2011-2013, which will be adopted at the Summit.


Traditionally, the Joint Task Force brings together services from the European Commission and the African Union Commission to discuss cooperation between both Commissions.

Since March 2009, the Joint Task Force also includes the co-chairs of joint Europe-Africa experts groups in each of the eight EU-Africa partnerships (Peace and security; Democratic Governance and Human Rights; Trade, Regional Integration, and Infrastructre; the Millennium Development Goals; Energy; Climate Change; Migration, Mobility and Employment; and Science, Information Society and Space) and representatives from civil society, the private sector, and representatives from the European and Pan-African Parliament. 


Journalists are invited to cover the opening session of the Joint Africa-EU meeting tommorow, Wednesday 20 October 2010, at 14 :30 pm at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


The  Joint Africa-EU Task Force meeting ends on Thursday 21 October 2010. Journalists are invited to cover the official closing ceremony at 4 :30 pm in the Confrence Center of the African Union Commission.
