UNOCI chief meets with Bangladeshi delegation

 

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, July 14, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d’Ivoire, Y. J. Choi, on Tuesday, in Abidjan, met with a Bangladeshi technical assessment mission that has come to find out about the work done by its contingent serving with the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI).

 

“The Special Representative said he appreciated the quality of the work of Bangladeshi police officers and soldiers deployed in various regions in Côte d’Ivoire”, the chief of delegation, Major-General Abdus Salam, said at the end of the meeting.

 

The five-day visit, he said would give them the opportunity to assess the work of their elements as well as conditions in the field in order to make them more effective, if need be.

 

The five-member Bangladeshi delegation is composed of members of a Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs. The delegation, which arrived in Abidjan on 12 July 2010, will leave Côte d’Ivoire on 16 July 2010.
