Italy and Africa: partners in business
ROME, Italy, July 1, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Infrastructure and agro-industry are the key themes of the “Italy and Africa Partners in Business” Forum taking place in Rome on 1 and 2 July 2010. The Forum is being organised by the Ministry for Economic Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and SIMEST. It will be opened by Minister Franco Frattini.
The forum is now in its second edition. This year, it will be dedicated to the topics of infrastructure and agro-industry, with a special emphasis on the commercial and industrial partnership opportunities between Italian and African firms in these sectors.
The competent ministers in 24 African countries (13 for agriculture and 11 for industry) have been invited. The countries were selected on the basis of their bilateral relations with Italy, with the prospect of developing them still further.
The following are expected to speak at the Forum: the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Adolfo Urso, the President of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Stefania Craxi, the President of the Italian Trade Institute, Umberto Vattani, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Gianfranco Fini, the Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policy, Giancarlo Galan, and the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno.
