African Union Commission (AUC) / Addis Ababa to Host Extraordinary Conference of African Ministers of Economy and Finance

 

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, December 16, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — African Ministers of Economy and Finance will tomorrow Thursday 17 December 2009, converge at the headquarters of the African Union Commission (AUC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to discuss issues related to the alternative sources of financing the African Union, the roadmap for the development of microfinance in Africa and consider the Annexes to the Statute establishing the African Investment Bank for adoption, amongst others. The opening ceremony of the Extraordinary Conference of African Ministers of Economy and Finance (CAMEF) will be chaired by Dr. Maxwell Mkwezalamba, Commissioner of Economic Affairs of the African Union.

 

An Expert meeting was held on 14 and 15 December 2009 at the AUC, in preparation of the Extraordinary Conference of the Ministers of Economy and Finance.  The report of the Experts will be submitted to the ministers for adoption and further transmission, to the African Union Assembly Head of States and Government billed for January/February 2010, in Addis Ababa.

 

According to the program, a Press Conference is scheduled to take place immediately after the closing ceremony of the CAMEF.
