Security situation in Darfur
The security situation in Darfur remains relatively calm, but unpredictable.

UNAMID military forces conducted 108 patrols including routine, short range, long range, night, and Humanitarian escort patrols, covering 66 villages and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps during the reporting period.

UNAMID police advisors also conducted 97 patrols in villages and IDP camps.

UNAMID Attends Security Meeting with GoS (Government of Sudan) in Sector West
On 26 Oct 2009, UNAMID Police Sector West Commander attended a joint meeting at the GoS Police HQ with the Deputy GoS Police Commander, UNAMID Senior Administrative Officer and UN Department of Safety and Security Team. The general security issues including the provision of security to premises within West Darfur State of NGO’s and UNAMID Guest Houses were discussed. It was also jointly agreed GoS Police to establish a quick response Unit to act to distress calls by UNAMID Staff and NGO’s during emergencies.  

UNAMID Lectures on Human Rights and gender Based Violence in North Darfur
On 26 October 09 a UNAMID Team Site Team comprising Human Rights officers, Gender officers, Investigating officers and Language Assistants went to GoS Police Station in Kutum for Human Rights and Gender Based Violence awareness.

UNAMID Conducts Two-Day Training Workshop in South Darfur on Gender Issues
 As part of its work to support the Government of Sudan with technical advice and activities that contribute to gender mainstreaming and the implementation of fundamental policies, regulations, legislations and resolutions, the UNAMID Sector South Gender Advisory Unit, in collaboration with the Office of South Darfur State Advisor for Woman and Child Affairs, organized a two-day Training Workshop on 26-27 Oct 2009 on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on “Women, Peace and Security”. The outcome of the workshop was the creation of an action plan as well as monitoring mechanisms which highlight the government’s commitments, responses, and policies for the implementation of the UNSCR 1325.
