MINURCAT and Chad agree on status of the UN presence



NDJAMENA, Chad, October 16, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Government of Chad, represented by the

Minister of External Relations, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, signed an agreement on

the status of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad

(MINURCAT). The Special Representative of the Secretary General in Chad, Mr.

Victor Angelo, who signed on behalf of the organization, hailed the agreement as

further evidence of the sound cooperation between the two entities.

The agreement provides a legal framework for the UN mission to effectively

implement its Security Council mandate in accordance with prevailing international
