President to undertake official visit to UNESCO general conference followed by a bilateral visit to the Republic of Korea and opening of first Seychelles tourism seminar in the people’s Republic of China.

President Michel will be travelling this weekend on an official visit to the UNESCO General Conference in Paris, where he is one of the Heads of State invited as guest of honour to address the conference by the Director General.  President Michel is expected to address the Conference on Monday 12th October. 

 

After the UNESCO conference, President Michel will be undertaking a landmark official visit to the Republic of Korea, at the invitation of the Government of Korea, the first by any Seychellois head of state.

 

He will follow the visit to Korea with the launching of the first Seychelles Tourism Seminar to be held in the People’s Republic of China.

 

During the three-day visit to Korea, President Michel will meet with H.E. Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President of the Republic of Korea and other senior government officials in the capital city of Seoul.

 

Discussions are expected to focus on general aspects of cooperation between Seychelles and the Republic of Korea with special emphasis on the areas of mutual concern such as piracy in the Indian Ocean, climate change and EXPO 2012.

 

The President will also visit the city of Daejeon which is known as the hub for science and industry in Korea.

 

The Tourism Seminar in Beijing is being organised by the Seychelles Embassy in collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board. President Michel will deliver a keynote address at the event, which is aimed at encouraging more Chinese visitors to travel to Seychelles.  Major Seychellois tour operators and travel agencies, as well as Air Seychelles will participate in the seminar, which will also involve key Chinese tourism-related agencies.
