BEIJING, China, July 1, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — On June 29, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with his visiting Tunisian counterpart Abdelwahab Abdallah in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

China-Tunisia relations have developed smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic ties 45 years ago, with fruitful cooperation in all areas, said Yang. Both sides have also maintained sound communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. “China is ready to work with Tunisia to cement the traditional friendship and promote the mutually beneficial cooperation of friendship,” Yang noted.

Abdallah expressed satisfaction over the development of bilateral friendly cooperative ties and appreciated China’s disinterested assistance to his country. He hoped that Tunisia and China would enhance friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas such as tourism, information industry and technology, so as to elevate the bilateral ties to a higher level.

The two foreign ministers signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement on behalf of the two governments after their talks.
