The Launch of the United Nations University Conversation Series on Economic Crisis

NEW YORK, June 23, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Launch of the United Nations University Conversation Series on Economic Crisis :

 

How to make sense of the current international crisis and what it has in store for us?

 

As the think-tank for the United Nations and its member states, the United Nations University brings some of the most important intellectual and policy voices from around the globe, including Olivier Blanchard, Janos Bogardi, Francois Bourguignon, Noam Chomsky, Richard Cooper, Evsey Gurvich, Thomas Hoenig, Robert Johnson, Jomo Kwame Sundaram, Wim Naude, Léonce Ndikumana, Eisuke Sakakibara, Luc Soete, Joseph Stiglitz, Roberto Mangabeira Unger, Aude Zieseniss de Thuin, to name a few, to help bring clarity to some of the key issues at the center of the economic crisis.

 

The “UNU Conversation Series”, a multimedia intellectual forum, is presented by the United Nations University on the occasion of the United Nations Conference on the world financial and economic crisis and its impact on development, to be held at the UN Headquarters in New York from 24-26 June 2009.

 

Through conversations with some of the best minds in the world, the UNU Conversation Series aims to help convey a better understanding of the causes of the financial and economic crisis, how this crisis manifests itself in developed and developing countries, what it means for the future of these countries and their peoples, and to explain what is at stake and what should be done to overcome the problems that we face.
