South Africa / Nepalese embassy to be set up

 

 

KATMANDU, Nepal, June 23, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The government is to set up Nepali embassies in South Africa, Canada, Kuwait and Brazil.

It has been doing homework for the structural reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad.

Speaking at a press conference here today, Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, Madan Kumar Bhattarai, informed that the term of the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights was extended for further 3 months.

Spokesperson Bhattarai said homework on the imminent India visit of the Prime Minister and Nepal’s participation in the Non-Alignment Summit to be held in Egypt was going on.

Similarly, Under Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Prahlad Pokhrel, said altogether 4,600 households suffered from Khoshi deluge were provided Rs 50,000 each for their rehabilitation till date.

It was also informed at the conference that Rs 478.5 million was given as payment to the Maoist’s PLA combatants till mid June.

According to Spokesperson at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Hari Kumar Shrestha, the Ministry has held talks with various 21 agitating groups so far.
