Ethiopian Premier holds discussion with UNDP top official, Sudanese Vice President (June 17, 2009)

 

 

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, June 17, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia has further intensified efforts with a view to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The premier later here on Tuesday 16, June 2009 held discussion with UNDP administrator Helen Clark.

Meles said Ethiopia has registered encouraging results particularly in health and education sector.

The premier told Helen Clark that the assistance of UNDP is crucial to enable Ethiopia meet the MDGs.

The UNDP top official on her part said Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to attain the development goals is encouraging

She also lauded the success registered so far mainly in the health and education sector, adding, UNDP will keep on assisting Ethiopia in the efforts of the country to meet the MDGs.

Meanwhile, the premier same day discussed with Sudanese Vice President and President of the semi-autonomous Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS), Salva Kiir Mayardit on existing relations between the two countries.

During the discussion Meles told the president that Ethiopia will contribute share to resolve situation in Southern Sudan in a peaceful manner.
