Lord Malloch-Brown visit to Africa (08/06/2009)

LONDON, United-Kingdom, June 8, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Lord Malloch-Brown will be in Africa this week for a wide range of events focusing on the economic challenges the region faces due to the global economic situation.

During his visit to Mozambique he will deliver a speech at an event organised by Chatham House and the Mozambique Institute for International Relations. Entitled Africa, weathering the storm and charting recovery, he will argue that economically, politically, socially and culturally, the international community must get behind Africa’s innovative regional initiatives and fledgling regional institutions to ensure that African countries will not only strengthen their own political economies but engage stronger globally. The speech will be available on our website shortly after it’s delivered (14:00BST Tuesday 9 June).

He will then be travelling to South Africa where he’ll attend the World Economic Forum and take part in various events, including a speech on G20 and Africa.

Towards the end of the week Lord Malloch-Brown will move on to Cape Town to attend an event organised by the Department for International Development, with a focus on improving the prosperity of the region.
