Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the CFSP, condemns the killing of three senior politicians in Guinea-Bissau

 

BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, June 6, 2009/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), issued a statement condemning the political killing today of three senior politicians in Guinea Bissau: the Territorial Administration Minister Baciro Dabo, the former defence minister Helder Proenca and the ex-prime minister Faustino Embali.

 

“I condemn the political killings that took place today in Guinea-Bissau. I call on the Government of Guinea Bissau to thoroughly investigate these events, to bring the perpetrators to justice and to take the necessary measures to prevent impunity in the country.

 

The European Union will continue to follow the situation in Guinea-Bissau closely.”
