Security Situation in Darfur

The security situation in Darfur is reported to be relatively calm.

UNAMID military and police personnel continue to conduct their daily patrols and activities throughout the region including confidence-building, escort duties, day and night patrols in and around the villages and IDP camps.

During the past 24 hours, military forces conducted 31 confidence building patrols, 19 escort patrols and 03 night patrols covering 44 villages/IDP Camps. Similarly, UNAMID police conducted 128 patrols in and around the villages and IDP camps.

UNAMID Police in collaboration with the women of Nifasha Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp organized a ceremony on the launch of locally designed stoves in Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur.  The stoves are aimed at utilizing smaller quantities of wood as compared to the previous mode of cooking.
