ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, October 20, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey and Permanent Observer to the African Union, H.E. Mr. Ali Riza Çolak, today Monday 20 October 2008, at the headquarters of the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, handed over to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. The grant which, in addition to the vehicle, include computers, printers, conference equipment and photocopiers, as well as consumables, were provided through the auspices of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

It is noted that the improvement of Turkey-Africa relations at both bilateral and multilateral levels has been one of the priority objectives of Turkish Foreign Policy.

In this context, the African Union, through combining the common interests and views of its Member States, constitute a determinant component of the multilateral objective of the said objective, representing and enhancing the institutional bonds between the two sides.

These donations therefore truly reflect the commitment of both Turkey and the Commission to strengthen cooperation between them as was reiterated in the course of the first Africa-Turkey Cooperation Summit held in Istanbul in August this year.

The Republic of Turkey and the African Union Commission used the occasion of the handing-over ceremony to renew their commitment to sustain their efforts to further improve and enhance mutual relations and cooperation at institutional level.
