WHAT:         Third High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness

WHERE:     Accra International Conference Centre, Ghana

WHEN:         2-4 September 2008

WHO:     Ministers from over 100 countries, heads of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, donor organizations, and civil society organizations from around the world

 

The Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness is about to kick off in Accra, Ghana. Participants will review progress in improving aid effectiveness, discuss key actions donors and partner countries need to take to accelerate progress in making aid more effective and chart a course for continuing international action on harmonizing the delivery of aid.  

The first two days of the Forum (2-3 September) will largely focus on discussions between aid practitioners, and include a series of nine roundtables. The High Level Forum will be held on the final day, 4 September 2008. Heads of agencies, other senior officials and ministers will discuss a number of key issues, leading to the negotiation and endorsement of the Accra Action Agenda (AAA).

In addition, a marketplace of knowledge and ideas will be held over the three days. Through posters displayed at the marketplace and presentations, delegations will be able to share their innovative approaches to aid effectiveness. IFAD’s President Lennart Båge will present prizes for the marketplace competition at an award ceremony during the Plenary Session on 4 September at 16:30.
