Merck and Co., Inc. is partnering with Travel Channel, The Africa Society and The World Bank in hosting the premiere screening of this film which showcases this southern African country. BOTSWANA: THE PRESIDENT’S TOUR will air on Monday, September 15 at 8PM (ET/PT).

Home to 1.8 million people, this country, nearly the size of Texas, is wealthier than 2/3 of the world. Over the years, Botswana’s per capita income has risen from one of the lowest to one of the highest. This continued economic growth can be attributed to conservation, tourism, education, and a bustling diamond industry. Botswana, a land of contrasts, is a country where desert gives way to water and traditional culture intertwines with modern marvels. It is a place where the son of a cattle farmer can rise to become an Oxford educated economist and esteemed leader of the land.

BOTSWANA: THE PRESIDENT’S TOUR will reveal to viewers Botswana’s treasured locations, steadfast traditions, and powerful society.

This marks the third collaboration between Travel Channel and The Africa Society for this Presidential Tour Series. The two previous films featured President Museveni of Uganda in 2003 and President Kufuor of Ghana in 2005. BOTSWANA: THE PRESIDENT’S TOUR is produced by
Beyond Productions for Travel Channel Media.
