Côte d’Ivoire / Ghanaian soldier serving with UNOCI dies after road accident

 

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, August 13, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI) regrets to announce the death of a Ghanaian soldier serving with the Mission. Staff Sergeant Wisdom Dogbevia died on Friday, 7 August 2008, at the Military Hospital in Accra, Ghana, where he was admitted on the 22 July 2008, after being injured in a traffic accident near Sikensi (50 km North West of Abidjan).

He arrived in Côte d’Ivoire on 29 December 2007 and worked at UNOCI’s Ghanaian-run hospital in Bouaké (350 km north of Abidjan). He was 42 years old and married.

He is the 30th soldier to die while since with the Mission, since it was deployed in April 2004.

UNOCI sends its sincere condolences to his family and the Ghanaian Government.
