Hon. Dr. Gertrude I. MONGELLA designated Chairperson of the International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization

The Secretary-General of the African Press Organization (APO), Mr. Nicolas POMPIGNE-MOGNARD, has decided to appoint Hon. Dr. Gertrude I. MONGELLA as Chairperson of the International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization.

Tanzanian diplomat and former senior official of the United Nations, Hon. Dr. Gertrude I. MONGELLA is the current President of the Panafrican Parliament (PAP), the consultative assembly of the African Union.

The Secretary-General of the African Press Organization in addition made public the list of the 37 members of the International Advisory Board (see below), while specifying that some additional personalities would join the Committee before its official launching planned for the end of March 2008.

Lastly, the Secretary-General of the APO exposed the new logo of the International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization.

The International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization is composed by members chosen among qualified personalities having a bond with Africa, or confirmed experience in the field of the communication for the development, of the promotion of the good governance, the work of the governmental and international institutions, the media, or the private sector.

In addition to its mission near the Secretary-General of the APO, the International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization has in particular vocation to provide recommendations in the field of the communication for the development, of the promotion of the good governance, or the reinforcement of the capacities of the African media.
