Ethiopia Launches New Development Analysis Tool

Ethiopia Launches New Development Analysis Tool

Addis Ababa, 20 November 2007: Ethiopia today launched the new version

of EthioInfo V2.1 on the Day of the African Statistics. The new

monitoring tool is expected to expand dissemination of socioeconomic and

human development data on one common database platform making it more

accessible for all users, whenever needed. The aim is to provide

multiple users such as Government, donors and other interested groups

access to a comprehensive set of indicators that facilitates analysis of

the situation in Ethiopia.

EthioInfo provides easy-to use facilities for querying the database to

retrieve specific data, which can then be easily transformed into

tables, graphs and maps for inclusion in reports and presentations.

EthioInfo incorporates information from six major surveys including the

latest Demographic health Survey, 2005.

The launch of the new system was presided over by Ms. Samia Zekaria the

Director of the Central Statistical Agency and Mr. Fidele Sarassoro, UN

Resident Coordinator at the United Nation Conference Center in the

presence of government officials and UN staff.

This is the first time that EthioInfo is available to the public with

the complete range of rich data sources and analysis tools offered via

the Central Statistical Agency website.
