AFRICAN PRESS ORGANIZATION - APO

Based in Switzerland, the African Press Organization manage a media list of 25.000 contacts, among which a majority of African media from French, English, Arabic and Portuguese-speaking countries, and also journalists charged with Africa in the Western media. 

The International Advisory Board of the African Press Organization is chaired by the current President of the Pan-African Parliament, Hon. Dr. Gertrude I. MONGELLA.

The African Press Organization has in particular the role of contributing to the strategy of communication of the African and Panafrican institutions, to assist the African official delegations in the mediatization of their visits abroad, of acting in favour of the communication for the development and the promotion of the good governance, and of answering the requests of the Western media and the international institutions related to Africa.

The African Press Organization manages various services intended for the African journalists, the journalists charged with Africa in the Western media, the African institutions, and the international institutions related to Africa:

1. APO-SOURCE - The African News Source

APO-SOURCE is the first data base of press releases related to Africa.

Through  APO-SOURCE website, the African Press Organization offers to the African journalists and to Westerners an access to the whole of the press releases related to Africa.

The data base thus made up is an invaluable working tool for the journalists, who can carry out free research by date, key words or institutions, among thousands of press releases.

APO-SOURCE integrates in particular a RSS feed accessible for free to the following address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Appa-sourceTheAfricanNewsSource .  

2. The press videoconferences - APO Webcast and APO Broadcast

Thanks to its partner, WEBOCONFERENCE , first company of private and encrypted videoconference on Internet, the African Press Organization organizes regularly press videoconferences  intended, in particular, to contribute to the strategy of communication of the African institutions.

This service is FREE and requires simply the use of a computer connected to Internet, a webcam (option) and a head-set.

The press videoconferences, entirely managed by the APO, are then Broadcasted, thanks to APO-Broadcast . The journalists not having been able to take part in the press videoconference can then view it, like a traditional televised program.

APO-Broadcast allows also to broadcast a press conference online. The international journalists can then attend the press conference online, like on television.

The service of press videoconference on Internet can be requested by any organization, personality, company or institution related to Africa (apo.org@apo-opa.org).

3. The mailing list of the APO

The African Press Organization send for free, by e-mail, to the journalists who asks it, the press releases emitted by the whole of the institutions related to Africa. 

To be registered on the mailing list of the African Press Organization, address simply a message to: apo-opa-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . 

The APO diffuses more than 6.000 press releases per year.

The APO thus takes part in the strategy of communication of many institutions and organizations related to Africa.

The APO is an actor of the communication for development.

The APO contribute to the reinforcement of the role of the African media in the promotion of the good governance.

4. The APO and the Public Relations

Based on a media list gathering 25.000 contacts, and having interlocutors within all the national and international news desks in Europe (news agencies, newspapers, televisions, radio, Internet), the African Press Organization insure the mediatization of the African delegations in visit in Europe by organizing press conferences, press videoconferences, press-point, press lunches, press breakfasts, interviews, radio and tv broadcasts.

The expertise, the network and the professionalism of the African Press Organization make of it an excellent alternative to the Europeans and generalists Public Relations agencies.

5. The APO and companies (APO-ECO)

The APO diffuses the press releases of the companies in touch with Africa.

This service, baptized APO-ECO, allows the African journalists and the journalists charged with Africa in the Western media to receive, for free, the press releases of the active companies on the African continent.

The APO contributes actively to the diffusion of economic information related to the African continent.

6. The APO and the mediatization of the international events

The APO takes part regularly in the media cover of international events.

Acting as a journalist of news agency, the representative of the APO then carries out interviews, photographs, and news.  

Thanks to the function broadcasting of APO-WEBCAST, the journalists who not having been able to make the travel can assist, on line, on Internet, with the press conferences or other events intended for the press. 

The press conferences are in addition recorded.

The whole of this informations (audio/video/text) are then diffused “free of right”, without copyright, on the whole of the network of the APO (mailing list + data base APO-SOURCE).

The journalists can then reproduce for free this information in their own media and thus take part, wherever they are, with the media cover of the event.

APO-WEBCAST is a service which allows the African journalists having a computer and the Internet to take part virtually in the media cover of an event proceeding in another part of the world.

This service is offered by the APO within the framework of its partnership with WEBOCONFERENCE , first company of private and encrypted videoconference on Internet. 

APO-WEBCAST does not require the use of a high speed Internet connection.

The whole of the institutions, organizations, associations and personalities can use APO-WEBCAST to allow the African journalists who cannot leave the continent to take part in the media cover of an event related to Africa (apo.org@apo-opa.org).

7. The APO and the partnerships

The APO is partner of many national or international events related to Africa.

It guarantees their mediatization.

The APO mobilizes his network and his knowledge to ensure a large mediatization of this events.
