Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), and Co-Hosted by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
WHY: This conference is organized to serve as a rallying point in intensifying commitments at all levels and all times to address the challenges of food and nutrition insecurity and malnutrition. It also aims at advocating and sensitizing Africa’s leader about the essential role that intra African trade can play in facilitating and sustaining food and nutrition security and consequently the socio economic development of the continent.
Objectives:
To create widespread awareness on the importance of investing in intra-African trade of strategic food and agricultural commodities in order to promote food and nutrition security on the continent;
To share best practices, innovations, challenges, and constraints;
To improve market access and trade opportunities by promoting production and consumption of high quality foods, such as fortified foods with micronutrients, diverse nutrient dense vegetables and fruits and animal source foods; and
To promote sustainable access to evidence-based maternal and child nutrition interventions.
Participants:
Participants will include: Member States, RECs, AUC, NEPAD, UN agencies, experts, international and civil society organizations.
All media representatives are invited to participate and cover both the experts and ministerial meeting.
