
The Chairperson Receives the Credentials of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Liberia to the AU
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, September 30, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr Jean Ping, received in his office at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa on Thursday 29 September 2011, the credentials of the Ambassador of Liberia, Her Excellency Ms. Viviene Titi WREH, as Permanent Representative of her country to the AU.
Welcoming the new Permanent Representative, the Chairperson noted that the African Union is following with great interest the sustained progress towards peace building and post conflict reconstruction in Liberia. He added that the Commission has continued, through its liaison office in Liberia, to follow closely developments in that country on the eve of the general election scheduled for October 2011.
In this context, he assured the Liberian diplomat that AU will do everything possible to sensitize the different stakeholders in order to secure peaceful elections in this country.
On her part, Ambassador WREH remarked that during her tenure, she would commit herself to working closely with the leadership of the AUC, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, in strengthening bilateral cooperation with her country.
