The Chairperson Receives the Credentials of the new Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the AU
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, September 30, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr Jean Ping, received in his office at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, on Friday 30 September 2011, the credentials of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Fathi Ahmed Edrees, as Permanent Representative of his country to the AU.
On this occasion, the Chairperson commended the new Egyptian Government for its engagement with Africa and the constructive role Egypt is playing within African Union.
He assured the Egyptian Permanent Representative of his full cooperation in the discharge of his new assignment.
On his part, Ambassador Edrees reiterated Egypt’s commitment to Africa and promised to work closely with the Commission to further strengthen the excellent relations that exist between the AU an Egypt.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Chief of Staff in the Bureau of Chairperson, the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Diplomatic Advisor of the Chairperson.
