UNMIL media advisory / Lottery drawing of lots for presidential and vice-presidential debates
MONROVIA, Liberia, September 27, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — As part of UNMIL’s mandate to support the national authorities in their conducting of free, fair, and peaceful elections, UNMIL Radio has scheduled live presidential and vice-presidential debates.
To ensure transparency and fairness in determining the line up and groupings for the debates, the drawing of lots is being organized for representatives of the sixteen presidential and vice presidential candidates.
The lottery event, will take place on Wednesday 28 September at 10:00am, at UNMIL’s Pan African Plaza Headquarters in Sinkor. The lottery draw will also be carried live on UNMIL Radio.
The debates will run Live on UNMIL Radio from 3 to 7 October 2011. The vice presidential candidates will hold their debates on 3 and 5 October, and presidential candidates will hold their debates on 5 and 7 October.
Members of the media are cordially invited to attend the lottery drawing on Wednesday 28 September at 10:00am, at UNMIL’s Pan African Plaza Headquarters in Sinkor.
