
Côte d’Ivoire / UNOCI’s Deputy head receives Ivorian Popular Front delegation
ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, September 27, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Deputy Special Representative of the U.N. Secretary-General for Côte d’Ivoire, Arnaud Akodjénou, received a delegation of the Front populaire ivoirien (FPI, Ivorian Popular Front) led by its interim chairman, Sylvain Miaka Ouretto, at the headquarters of the UN Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI) on Monday 26 September 2011.
After the meeting, Mr. Ouretto stated that he and his delegation had come to return the courtesy to the Deputy Special Representative, who had met them soon after taking up his post in Côte d’Ivoire.
The FPI Interim Chairman also said his delegation had conveyed its concerns to the deputy chief of UNOCI. According to Mr. Ouretto, security problems, the imprisonment of ex-president Laurent Gbagbo and the financing of political parties were issues raised during the meeting.
The FPI delegation also included former ministers Sébastien Dano Djedje, Michel Amani Nguessan and Alphonse Douati, and Mrs Marie-Odette Lorougnon, who chairs the FPI’s women’s movement.
