Somalia / Freelance Journalist Paralyzed by Stroke in Need for Urgent Help

 

MOGADISHU, Somalia, August 30, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The National Union Of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) is concerned the fate of freelance journalist who was paralyzed by Stroke.

 

Abdullahi Hassan Ghedi known as Januune was a freelance writer and Photographer for the Somali websites Dayniile and Cawslafil. He has been hit by serious hit stroke that partially paralyzed him and he is currently hospitalized at Daarul Shifa hospital in Mogadishu.

 

He has been in the hospital for at least two weeks and his wife and family members are not able to pay the Hospital bills. The doctors at the hospital suggested that Mr. Ghedi needs overseas medical treatment.

 

Janune has been one of the renowned Somali journalists who has braved to serve and inform the public with fair and balanced news stories. He has been the Treasurer of the National Union of Somali Journalists

(NUSOJ) in 2005 – 2006

 

The Somali Journalist, Abdullahi Hassan Ghedi has a wife and seven children and he was the only person used to win their daily bread and Somali journalists are urged to give donations through Ghedi’s wife, Mulki Yusuf.

 

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) calls upon on all Somali journalists and concerned entities whether inside or outside the country to extend their support to their colleague in need.
