Minister Frattini expresses his condolences over the attack against the United Nations building in Abuja
ROME, Italy, August 29, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Minister Frattini expresses his condolences over the attack against the United Nations building in Abuja
“I am deeply saddened by today’s cowardly attack in Abuja. It has caused numerous victims amongst the United Nations personnel engaged each day, in highly difficult circumstances, at the service of the local population to foster social growth and economic development. To their friends and families, I wish to express my sympathy and my admiration for those who have paid the highest price in a noble mission”. This was Minister Frattini’s comment today in the wake of the attack in Abuja.
“This latest Islamic-fundamentalist inspired attack in Nigeria is yet another sad reminder of Al Qaida’s persisting ability to strike innocent people. This form of terrorism is an evil of our times. We have achieved significant successes against it, especially when we tackle terror through extensive international collaboration by police and intelligence forces. We need to renew our efforts and keep our guard high against Islamic terrorism and extremism”, concluded the Foreign Minister.
