Director of US Special Envoy Office visit to North Darfur
Newly appointed Director of the Office of the US Special Envoy to Sudan, Mr. Larry Andre conducted a one- day visit to El Fasher, North Darfur. Mr. Andre paid a courtesy call to UNAMID senior officials who briefed him on the current political and security situation in relation to Darfur, UNAMID activities including the humanitarian Operation Springbasket, dissemination of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) and the status of the Mission’s radio broadcasting license.
He also met with representatives of the UN country team, UNAMID Humanitarian and Protection Strategy and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military conducted 135 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 75 villages and internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps. UNAMID Police advisors conducted 91 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
