What: African Youth Forum
A pre summit event for the June-June July 2011 AU Summit
When: 1st April at 9:30 AM
Where: African Union Headquarters Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Why: The Africa Youth Forum will host about 300 youth representatives from across Africa and the Diaspora from the 1-6 April, 2011, as an official pre-summit event, ahead of the June/July 2011 AU Summit under the theme: “Accelerate Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development”.
The outcome of this forum will be reported to the AU Plenary Session during the Executive Council Session; after being ratified by the Bureau of Conference of Ministers for Youth (COMY), as the official position of Youth in Africa.
Highlights of the Youth Forum will include:
One-day High-level Session on Financing Youth Development in Africa within the framework of the “African Youth Decade Plan of Action”;
Parliamentary Exchange on Implementation of the African Youth Charter;
Debate and Exchange among African Youth on key Challenges & Opportunities;
Innovative fair, where young Africans showcase their innovations & Creativity
Cultural & photo exhibitions; Exchange with international Youth and others.
Conference the Bureau of Ministers for Youth meeting (8-9 April);
Journalists are invited to cover the opening ceremony of the Youth Forum on 1st April 2011 at 09:30 AM in the Plenary Hall of the African Union. They are also invited to attend the Youth Forum throughout from 1st to 7th of April.
