Air strikes confirmed in South Darfur
A UNAMID patrol has confirmed air strikes at Khirwajid village, near Labado in South Darfur, on 26 March. The incident left a reported 13 people injured, many of whom were taken to the Mission’s team site for treatment, as well as four houses burned and livestock killed.

The bombardment is alleged to be in retaliation for an attack on a passenger bus by armed men the previous day.

UNAMID delivers water to El Fasher secondary schools
As more than 400,000 children nationwide today sat to take their Secondary Certificate Examinations, UNAMID began the first daily delivery of more than 30,000 litres to students in El Fasher, many of whom had travelled from smaller villages.

At the request of the North Darfur State Ministry of Education, the Mission will provide potable water to nearly 12,000 students at examination centers and dormitories for the next 16 days. UNAMID also delivered water earlier in the year for eighth graders taking their secondary school entrance exams.

UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military conducted 154 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 80 villages and IDP camps.

UNAMID police advisors conducted 95 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
