Inter-agency field mission to a nomadic community in Kabkabiya, North Darfur
UNAMID and a number of UN agencies yesterday met local community leaders in Seeh Gannah, located 17 km north of Kabkabiya, North Darfur, to discuss issues relevant to their security and well-being.

The local leaders requested logistical support to facilitate their return to their original villages in North Kutum from which they were reportedly displaced. They also complained of a lack of adequate educational facilities, especially schools, and a shortage of water, among other basic amenities.

UNAMID and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) used the opportunity to hand over tents for classrooms and a maternity training centre as well as school supplies.

The team later held a meeting with the Commissioner of Kabkabiya, members of the locality security coordination committee, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the area and civil society representatives.

UNAMID patrols
UNAMID military conducted 120 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 68 villages and IDP camps.

UNAMID police advisors conducted 109 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
