Côte d’Ivoire / Alain Le Roy discusses post-election crisis with EU delegation head

ABUJA, Nigeria, December 27, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The head of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Alain Le Roy, discussed the post-election crisis in Côte d’Ivoire on Monday 27 December 2010 in Abidjan with the head of the European Union (EU) delegation here, Thierry De Saint-Maurice.

At the end of the meeting, held at the headquarters of the UN Operation in Côte d’Ivoire (UNOCI), Mr. De Saint-Maurice said the EU, « because of the role it continues to play in the resolution of the Ivorian crisis, had wanted to meet Mr. Leroy to discuss with him the various facts concerning the situation” in the country.

He said he wished UNOCI would continue to carry out its mandate despite the difficult situations it has been facing over the past few weeks.

Mr Le Roy arrived in Abidjan on Monday for a visit of a few days. This is his second mission in Côte d’Ivoire, which he also visited in June 2009.
