UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications & Public Information visits Egypt for five Days

 

 

CAIRO, Egypt, November 29, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Mr. Kiyo Akasaka arrived in Egypt on Friday 25 November on an official visit to the country for five days, during which he will deliver the keynote speech to the 3rd Global Seminar on Linguistic Diversity, Globalization and Development.  The Seminar is organized by Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the UN Department of Public Information, UNESCO, Linguamón-House of Languages and the Roberto Marinho Foundation, during the period 28 & 29 November 2010.

 

During his visit to Egypt, Mr. Akasaka will meet with Senior Egyptian Officials, including Ambassador Hisham el Zemity, Assistant Foreign Minister, as well as Senior Islamic, Coptic and Civil Society figures in the country.  Mr. Akasaka will also give a lecture to students of the Global Affairs and Public Policy school, at the American University in Cairo, entitled: “The United Nations, Millennium Development Goals and the Youth”.

 

Mr. Akasaka will also hold a meeting with Professors from the faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University, to seek means of enhancing ongoing cooperation between the United Nations and the Cairo University.

 

The Senior UN Official will also meet with Directors and Information Specialists from UN Information Centres in the Arab Region and will inaugurate the International Executive Media and Television Workshop which will take place during the period 1 to 3 December in Cairo.
