What:     WORLD AIDS DAY- NATIONAL AIDS CAMPAIGN IN EGYPT

 

YOUTH MUSIC FESTIVAL AND PRESS CONFERENCE

 

 

When:     3 December 2010 (Friday):

 

YOUTH FESTIVAL 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M.

PRESS CONFERENCE 4:00.-5:30 P.M.

 

Where:     GEZIRAH YOUTH CENTRE-ZAMALEK

 

 

Why:        The Objectives of the event are to:

 

Commemorate World AIDS Day in Egypt

Raise awareness and engagement of youth related to HIV services and fighting stigma

Nominate Ms. Menna Shalaby, National Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS Egypt

Highlight the four TV spots which were developed for World AIDS Campaign 2009

 

 

Details of the event: YOUTH FESTIVAL is an all day event full of parallel activities for education on HIV through entertaining and fun activities as kite making, origami, T-shirts painting, Sega knowledge games and much more. The event will also feature two key live musical bands- Masar Egbari and Y-crew and will be attended by several UN Goodwill Ambassadors as Mr. Amr Waked, Mr. Khaled Abol Naga, Yousra, Hind Sabry, Menna Shalaby, the Master of Ceremony Mr. Aiman Kaisoni and others. Additionally a PRESS CONFERENCE is organized for selected media partners at the Gezirah youth centre at 4 p.m. featuring key note speakers as the National AIDS program Manager, the UN Resident Coordinator, the Regional Director for UNAIDS and Goodwill Ambassadors in Egypt and the region. The event is organized by UNAIDS Secretariat and Cosposnors, the National AIDS program, civil society, and private sector partners.

 

The Theme of World AIDS Campaign 2009 is “Universal Access and Human Rights” to ensure that people living with HIV have access to prevention, care, support and treatment with no discrimination.

 

* Please note that additionally on December 1st a regional press conference is organized by UNAIDS and in collaboration with regional cosponsors to launch the World Epidemic Report on AIDS at the Intercontinental Hotel.
