Readout of the UN Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Gervais Jean-Baptiste Kacou, Foreign Minister of Côte d’Ivoire in the margins of the 65th General Assembly

 

 

NEW YORK, September 30, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General met today, 29 September 2010 with H.E. Mr. Gervais Jean-Baptiste Kacou, Foreign Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, in the margins of the 65th General Assembly.

 

The Secretary-General welcomed progress made in the preparations for the presidential elections, scheduled to be held on 31 October 2010, in particular the establishment of the voters list. He called for a firm commitment by all the parties to ensure that the electoral process will not be derailed. He assured the Foreign Minister of the support of the United Nations to help sustain the momentum and provide logistical and technical arrangement for the elections.
