Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Mizengo Peter Pinda, Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, in the margins of the 65th General Assembly

 

 

NEW YORK, September 28, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General met with Prime Minister Pinda of the United Republic of Tanzania today.

 

The Secretary-General welcomed the recently completed, successful referendum in Zanzibar and pledged continued support to the National and Zanzibar Electoral Commissions for the preparation of the general elections. He also expressed appreciation for Tanzania’s contributions to the UN’s peacekeeping efforts in Somalia, Burundi, DRC and Sudan. He further congratulated Tanzania for its leadership in climate change and development.
