Readout of the UN Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, in the margins of the 65th General Assembly

 

 

NEW YORK, September 27, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General met today, 26 September 2010, with H.E. Mr. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda.

They discussed a range of issues, including maternal and child health and the Millennium Development Goals Summit. The Secretary-General thanked President Kagame for his personal role in this area, and for chairing the 22 September meeting of the MDG Advocacy Group.

The Secretary-General said he was very satisfied to learn that Rwanda would continue its important role in peacekeeping, especially in Darfur.

The Secretary-General and the President also discussed the Democratic Republic of the Congo Mapping Report, which will be released on 1 October.
