
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission meets with the Indian Delegation to Kampala Summit
KAMPALA, Uganda, July 27, 2010/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Dr. Jean PING, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission on 22 July 2010 had received
the Indian delegation to the Kampala Summit, led by the Vice Minister in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Mr. Vivek KATJU.
On this occasion, the Chairperson expressed satisfaction at the progress achieved in the
partnership between Africa and India. He added that the Commission and African Union
Member States are deeply committed to this partnership and expressed the hope that it will
develop even further.
In response, the Indian Vice‐Minister underlined his country’s great interest in building strong
relationship with the African Continent in a number of areas including industry, agriculture,
education and health.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the leader of the Indian delegation also
discussed other issues of mutual interest, including the convening of the next Summit of Africa‐
India Forum which is scheduled to be held in 2011.
